Melnikov by Jelena Prokopljević
The new socks collection designed by different architects.
Knitted socks, made in Barcelona.
The socks do not have a heel pad, so they fit perfectly on the foot.
Composition: 80% cotton 15% polyamide 3% elastodiene 2% elastan
This sock is inspired by the Konstantin Melnikov Hous, a famous Moscow residence that, for much of the architect’s life, served as a sort of prison for him.
The Stalinist regime forbade him from building, so he turned to painting, living a precarious existence with his movements restricted.
While the house itself is white, the sock depicts a night scene with lights glowing in the hexagonal windows, signaling that Melnikov is home.
At the same time, it calls to mind other artists and architects silenced for political reasons, a phenomenon that, unfortunately, still happens.
